National Khelo India Women's Track Cycling League; Excellent performance by women cyclists

PATIALA: The National Khelo India Track Cycling League held at the Velodrum of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose National Institute of Sports (NIS) concluded with indelible memories. During the league, very exciting competitions of women cyclists from all over the country were seen and the players created history on the land of Patiala by performing brilliantly.

While sharing the information about this League Coordinator Mr. Neeraj Tanwar And Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee international cyclist and organizer of the league Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said that under the competitions held during the league, in 500m time trial junior category, J. Srimati Tamil Nadu won the first place, Divina Joy Kerala won the second place and Pushpa Kumari Patiala won the third place. Harshita Jakhar Patiala first, Sarita Kumari Patiala second and Dhaniyada JP Tamil Nadu secured the third position in 500m time trial sub junior category.

In the women's elite sprint, Keerthi Rangaswamy Karnataka took first, Mukal Haryana second and AA Thomas Kerala third. Similarly, in the women's junior sprint, J.Smt Tamil Nadu got first, Anurith Guraya Patiala second and Divina Joy Kerala third. Harshita Jakhar Patiala won first, Sarita Kumari Patiala second and Anjali Jakhar Rajasthan third in sub-junior sprint.

In the Women's Elite Individual Pursuit, Kirti Rangaswamy Karnataka won first, Pooja Bishnoi Rajasthan second and Kavita Syag Rajasthan third. In the women's junior pursuit, Parul Haryana got first, Divina Joy Kerala second and Pushpa Kumari Patiala third. In Sub Junior Pursuit, Harshita Jakhar Patiala won first, Dhaniyada JP. Tamil Nadu got the second position and Anjali Jakhar Rajasthan got the third position.

In the women's elite kerin race, Keerthi Ranga Swamy Karnataka took first, Aarti Uttarakhand second and AA Thomas Kerala third. In the junior category of the same race, J. Srimati Tamilnadu got the first place, Anurit Guraya patiala got the second place and Parul Haryana got the third place. In the sub-junior category Dhaniyada J.P. Tamil Nadu got first, Harshita Jakhar Patiala second and Suhani Kumari Patiala third.

In the elite category of Scratch Race, Keerthy Rangaswamy won first, Mukul Haryana second and AA Thomas third. In the sub-junior category of this race, J. Srimati Tamil Nadu bagged first, Divina Joy Kerala second and Anurith Guraya Patiala third. In the sub-junior category of the same race, Harshita Jakhar won first, Dhaniyada JP. Tamil Nadu got the second position and Suhani Kumari got the third position.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh, awardee international cyclist and organizer of the league Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said he is is grateful to Onkar Singh, General Secretary of Asian Cycling Confederation, Maninder Pal Singh, General Secretary of Cycling Federation of India for organising such a mega event and many more national and international level competitions will be held in Punjab in the coming days and will promote cycling, especially Punjab's cycling will be carried forward.

The excellence of Punjab cycling requires many structural changes and in the near future positive changes will be made for the betterment of cycling so that the hardworking cyclists of Punjab can get their due. Meanwhile, he thanked the sponsors of the league, Agon Sports Wear, Punjabi Runners, Bombay Cycle House, Ajju Bhangra Studio, Duke, Deepak Mishra Fit India Ambassador with whose support this wonderful league was able to culminate in a smooth manner.

The league was organized in a joint venture between Cycling Federation of India, Ministry of Sports, Government of India and Sports Authority of India. Society for Sportsperson Welfare has played an important role in conducting this league.

On this occasion, international cyclists Bakhshish Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, Satinderpal Singh, personalities from the sports world, players and spectators were present.
